I would like to express my gratitude to Peter Jacobs for introducing me to the wonderful institution of Pierro Gallery, South Orange NJ, with Judy Wukich, Director, and her incredibly dedicated volunteer which I have had the great pleasure of working with on several occasions.
"iDraw, iPaint, iSculpt and iPhotograph" is a gathering of artists that dare to use basic materials that would nowadays be considered "old school". Simple but powerful basic tools and materials are used to express what lies deep inside the eyes of an artist. In my opinion, as we move further into this century, these past generations of "main stream artists" that have survived into the present almost seems to be void of the skill, craft and even vision of their predecessors and instead seem drawn to the "trendy" styles of the day making "catchy" and often very expensive "happy techno" accidents. The much desired "wow factor" quickly becomes the "was factor" as it drifts away from the stage of longevity. I strongly believe that the artist must go through a process of seasoning and maturing at their craft. A time in which is needed to grow and develop a sense of identity. An identity that is defined by mastering skills combined with a divine-like creativity leaving a defining signature in whatever medium used. This process is repeated throughout history among the great names in art. The artist can transcend their thoughts and record it on a surface for all to see. This quest for truth, beauty, and timelessness in a world tarnished by the fall of humanity is a struggle that may perhaps take lifetimes to accomplish.
The artists portrayed in this exhibition all work with the materials that directly involve the artists' creative hand. Each work demonstrates a unique joy far surpassing visual comprehension.
